Updates are In!

If you’ve been following us on FaceBook or Google+, you know we’re busy all year ’round, but it really heats up – in September. This year is no exception. We have updated our Meetings page, and there’s just too much to mention here. You have to go there and see for yourself!

Our club is busy in Red Bank working on those beautiful flower pots, which you can’t miss as you cruise down Main Street in the center of town. We hope you enjoy and appreciate the devotion shown by members as they clip, pull, and also clean out, the planters there. Other year-round activities are in place, such as our Poricy Park herb garden project.

The beginning of the school year will resume many projects, and you can read about them here: Club Projects.

Please bookmark us or join this blog so you can keep up with all the action. There is something for everyone, and we look forward to seeing you.

Happy Anniversary to us!

Looking forward and also looking back, we are

beginning to celebrate a monumental 70th anniversary. Founded in 1947, Navesink Garden Club continues to grow and thrive with the help of our members.

At a recent tea, we honored the club with gifts of friendship. Stay tuned for pics.

Peggy Koehler, a Garden Club of New Jersey accredited judge and award-winning designer, will discuss compatible plantings, soil types, and flower show qualifications for dish gardens on Tuesday, October 11 at 1:00 pm at Navesink Garden Club’s meeting at The Atrium, 40 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank.

The public is invited to attend free of charge.

The Navesink Garden Club is inviting people interested in horticulture and design to join the Club. Meet everyone and learn what other interesting things the Club will be doing. Come to a monthly meeting held the second Tuesday of the month at The Atrium from September to April from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.
The Navesink Garden Club is a member of The Garden Club of New Jersey, Inc. and the Central Atlantic Region of National Garden Clubs, Inc. Members come from Atlantic Highlands, Belford, Brick, Chatham, Colts Neck, Eatontown, Elberon, Fair Haven, Highlands, Holmdel, Leonardo, Lincroft, Little Silver, Middletown, Neptune, Ocean, Rumson, Shrewsbury, Tinton Falls, and Red Bank.

Our First Meeting is almost Here

Members of the Navesink Garden Club are busy, as we speak, setting up some preliminaries at the Atrium, where our first meeting and annual horticultural and design competition will be held. It will be tomorrow, 9/13, and the public is invited from 1-3 PM to view our results.

We promise a good view of local fruits, vegetables and even designs, created or grown by members in their own gardens. Our rules follow the Handbook for Flower Shows so are judged on standard criteria.

If you are intimidated by the ideas of designing something or growing a garden, don’t hesitate to visit us. You will realize that we are just like anyone else. We all started somewhere. Even if it was with a small hand trowel and a bucket of potting soil.

See you tomorrow at the Atrium!
