Members’ Holiday Workshop

Members gather to create a unique holiday themed design. You can offer or utilize a vase, a wreath, ribbon, flowers, or other horticultural materials. Let your imagination roam!

Don’t forget to bring a dish to share. Other arrangements will be announced to the Club separately.

Group Mass Design – a Demonstration

Presenter – Marina Kerber, Accredited Life Judge, Past President, NGC

 

Our own Marina will demonstrate the new Creative Group Mass Design that was introduced in the new 2017 Handbook for Flower Shows. The differences between a Traditional Mass Design and this will also be addressed. The demonstration will be good for new members as well as “seasoned” ones.

Saving our Coastal Environments

Presenter – Tim Dillingham

 

Our speaker is the Executive Director of the American Littoral Society. He will illustrate the many ways we can protect our environment and preserve our precious waterways. Mr. Dillingham is well versed in his field and holds a degree in Coastal and Marine Resource Management from the University of Rhode Island.

We are a coastal community, and we are interested in learning more about what can be done, as well as what is being done to mitigate the effects of climate change and pollution, among other issues.

Mastering Petite Design

Presenter – Debbie Moran, NGC Accredited Master Judge

 

Debbie will deconstruct the petite design for us. She is an accomplished designer whose works have garnered many blue ribbons and the coveted Petite Award at the Philadelphia Flower Show and the GCNJ flower show in Edison. A former member of Floralia, Debbie is also a member of the Montclair Garden Club.

Tips from the Butterfly Whisperer

Presenter – Candy Tice

Candy is a Monmouth County Master Gardener and she will cover everything you need to know to get butterflies into your garden. Some tips will include what to plant to provide a diversity of nectar flowers to feed them. She will also discuss a very important aspect of butterfly gardening, which is the food sources needed for egg laying and caterpillar growth. Learn why it’s okay to leave some spots untouched in the fall when larva are settling in to turn into spring butterflies right in your backyard.
