GoSprouts Wins Blue Ribbon for 2nd Year!

For the second year in a row, two members of the Navesink Garden Club, Laurie Brekke and Hope Hanlon, were recently awarded a Blue Ribbon in the 2017 Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) Gardening and Greening Contest for their creation of a children’s learning garden, the Tiger Patch, at Atlantic Highlands Elementary School. They were selected from 387 entries and recognized for their commitment to enhance their neighborhood through their work in this garden.

The garden, founded in 2010 by their non-profit, GoSprouts, is utilized by students and educators to learn and teach across the entire curriculum, including science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). In addition to 13 raised beds, GoSprouts is working with the school to install a certified Monarch Waystation in the Tiger Patch.

The PHS will honor their accomplishments at a reception hosted in Philadelphia on Monday, November 14.

The Navesink Garden Club is inviting people interested in horticulture and design to join the club. Meet everyone and learn what other interesting projects the club will be doing.
